For leaders, specifically, those who operate at the strategic level, objectivity is imperative. The role of the senior leader is to ensure the longevity, sustainability, and prosperity of the organization. This expectation should be required regardless of their charge within the organization. (When I say charge, I mean to say that person A may be in charge of business operations. However, that charge should be second only to their primary purpose: to ensure that longevity, sustainability, and prosperity of the organization.)
Once the senior leader is clear about these aspects of their role, then there will be clarity of purpose, objectivity will become more natural, and resistance to change becomes less likely of an issue.
